Well, things have begun. I started this morning by getting a breakfast I didn't order. The problem with things you don't order is you never know what the person that did order it was thinking. For example, I got some cereal this morning, with chocolate milk to put on it. I also got toast, with syrup instead of jam. Good times! I have a feeling it might take a few days for me to get the food thing worked out here.
Promptly at 9am I started my high dose chemo regimen. This regimen will run over the next 6 days and will helpful kill any remaining cancer cells and will condition my bone marrow for transplant. Condition is a nice word for destroy=-). The drug I got today is known as BCNU or carmustine. It is generally used to treat brain tumors as it is a drug that can cross the blood/brain barrier. I got a total life time dose (the most you can get without fatal complications) over an hour this morning. Overall things went pretty well. I had a drop in blood pressure and became a little flushed. Other than that nothing really all that exciting happen. My appetite is still good, I just finished a slice of pizza for lunch.
The rest of the day will be spent hydrating for tomorrows chemo and resting. I am going to get some work in on the stationary bike sometime this afternoon and work on finishing War and Peace.
So far so good!
